irrelevant of your changes to skills, i think TA is better than Codex, but thet's just my op.
Problem with Codex is it's not anywhere near casual enough for me. It takes ages (for me at least), not being a PvPer very much, to throw together a worthwhile build from codex. I don't hav enough time to put together a build from a list of allowed skills and join a party and still get some wins.

TA had it's own, unique gameplay, even if you deny it. That said, no matter how TA was broken, therefore it's much easier to challenge the Codex for not being perfect, since it replaced TA and was said to be more interesting/better balanced/more fun.

What do you guys think? Wouldnt that make it more fun?

This (or something like that)...and make it random teams.

Then it becomes a game of chance, whichever team gets best builds wins.

Anyone remember TA the first year of Guild Wars? Nice and full with lots of people with many builds, ahh good times.
On topic I agree that Codex needs a change. Not neccesarily skill function but the skills you get.
Like always having at least one ele attunment, a IAS for Wars, Dervs, Paras, A full chain for sins(thank god they added off-hand finally), hex and condition removal for monks, cover hex for necros and meses, dono about rits XD
Some changes like that might fix it to some extent.

Actually, a combination would be awesome.
Costume Codex Brawl, where you choose from a selection of henchmen to become during the match. These henchies are drawn from all the campaigns (but have full builds, of course), and rotate in and out of the brawl every day. So one day, you might use Emi, but the next day she would be gone, and Talon would be there.
You could even have some customization, where Cynn must be fire type, but her skills vary from day to day, or Lo Sha has a combination of illusion and inspiration skills drawn up randomly every time he appears. That way, you know vaguely what you are facing when you see the opposing team consist of Lukas, Redemptor Karl, Herta, and Eve, but you aren't sure about every skill on their bars.

I like the codex costume brawl idea. Really, the concept of codex isnt bad. I think the problem with it is that Anet tried to make a randomized arena to appeal to those casual players bored of the pvp meta, but Anet didnt go far enough with the randomization. Codex would be much better if the teams were randomly composed, like in RA.
Oh, and TA isnt going to come back. There is no point in asking for it to come back. It wasnt popular anyway.

Here's the problem: The mentality and skillfulness of the players for BOTH of the arenas were outside of Anets expectations, and the arenas not being so popular. Really, it's something where you have a better chance if you can get your guild or alliance together where you are more likely to be organized and have time to discuss tactics. It's obviously not pug friendly, really. Even if they make it into RA like there will be syncs, despite Anet's attempt to thwart those. This advice went for TA and it goes for Codex as well: Get together with your guildies or alliance members to play as a team. Like I said, better organized and more patience for figuring out tactics.

Why can't we have both arenas? Or all three? To each his own?
It doesn't take additional resources to balance something when your NOT BALANCING it (TA/HB for the last 3 yrs).

I Would also be for a mixed codex/costume brawl arena. That likely what people were thinking when the community asked for sealed deck anyways. Codex is too much like TA to ever gain more community than TA did.
Oh, and those skill changes I mentioned should happen anyways. I don't think the people who didn't TA when it existed really understand just how massively broken the FF/PS combo really is. It doesn't just reflect Conditions back on the enemy, it does so for free and for practically no attribute investment. It's one of the biggest offenders when it came to skills that caused the TA meta to stale, as it made many otherwise viable builds that could counter the meta unviable. Curse Necros essentially have an extra elite with that on their bar, and I guarantee it's only a matter of time before it finds it's way to GvG and HA.
